Sexy dress time
Sunday, January 29th - finally time for the lovely Sexy Bridesmaid Posse to get measured for their dresses!Of course, the weather was pretty nasty, but we braved the rain and wind to go into the zoo that was Jay West in Haddonfield.
Did I mention it is apparently prom season?
Teens, accompanied by moms, were everywhere. The staff looked completely frazzled and when I approached the desk with four girls in tow (bridesmaids Kim Q and Kim M were a few minutes behind), the woman seemed a bit taken back.
"I have an appointment," I said meekly.
"Oh, alright," she said. Um...
We headed downstairs as Kim and Kim walked in.
"Are you here for prom?" a male employee asked Kim M.
"No," Kim M said. "But thank you."
They explained why they were there, and were directed downstairs to where the measuring was happening. They were stopped on the stairs by another employee.
"Um, can I help you with anything?" the woman asked.
"No thank you," Kim Q replied. They kept walking.
"AND, you need an appointment to be down here," woman goes on.
"AND we have one," Kim Q said. "Thank you." The woman left in a huff.
Oh boy. This is the store attitude I had been warned about. I'm hoping it was an isolated incident.
So far, it appears that it was. We went back on Tuesday (a slow weeknight) for Kim M to pay for her gown and the staff was tripping over themselves to be nice to us. But despite the busyness and some mild rudeness toward the girls on Sunday (probably associated with the busyness, though still not appreciated), everyone was measured without incident.
For those keeping tabs, you can check out the bridesmaid dresses, designed by Bill Levkoff by clicking here and typing "201" in the search box. The color you want to select is Euro Taupe (I have no idea why they throw the word "Euro" in front of everything - they must think it makes everything sound richer.) Or, see the gown here that Kim M is holding up - that is the color - just not the correct dress.
The dresses ship April 12th, so they should arrive a few days after that. Can't wait!
