My finger feels naked!

I didn't realize how used to wearing an engagement ring I had become until I had to take it off - and leave it behind - on Saturday.

This weekend Ed and I went to Halloween (a jewelry store on Pine Street in Phila - pictured at left) to order our wedding bands. This was, of course, my third trip to the place because I had quite a bit of difficulty choosing a ring. I mean, they're all pretty right? I initially went with Ed, and left after a very confused hour browsing.

The jewelers brought out two amazing trays of bands, to which I nervously said, "uh, what do you recommend?"

To which they said, "What do you like?"

To which I said, "I have no idea."

I brought my mom back two weeks later, who was a huge help in narrowing down my selection ("You want one that sparkles"). By the time I came back Saturday, the two owners knew me by name.

Choosing was difficult because my engagement ring is custom made, so there is no set match of a wedding band to go along with it. So I could really go in any direction I wanted, which was nerve wracking for a girl who never had a fance piece of jewelry in her life (unless Tiffany silver counts??)

I settled on a nice choice, I think - a band of small, alternating princess cut and baguette diamonds. The band I choose had round stones, but Henry, the jeweler, is going to make one with princess cut stones instead to match my ring. (Whatta guy). I had to leave my engagement ring behind so he can match the color and shape of my diamond to the wedding band stones.
Plus, I had to bite the bullet and size my damn ring before, as Henry the jeweler puts it "it falls off in a snowball fight."

Ed, naturally, chose his wedding band in under five minutes - a simple white gold band with milgrain edging. He looked into the tray and calmly said, "that one."

Men.

So my engagement ring will be ready by next weekend, and my wedding band in about 4 weeks. My finger feels naked, and I can't wait to dress it up again!
