I bought monogrammed cocktail napkins
Oh yeah. I did it. I bought something with our names on it.Behold the ivory napkins -- keeping with the taupe/ivory theme of the day. Simple, yet understated. I hope.
I think I have been pretty reserved when it comes to this crap. And a lot of it is total crap. Monogrammed guest towels, cake boxes, votive holders -- they'll even print your name on gift wrap and ribbon. Yes, that qualifies as too much, as does monogrammed "tears of joy" packets.
But these appealed to me for some reason - and to Jess as well. So we both ordered them from Joanne, the nice woman who did our wedding invites. She gave us a decent discount that made it worth it.
When we went to pick them up last week, we both just started at them. Then we both giggled. Yeah, we're geeks.
But I think we made Joanne's day.
"I have to tell you something," Joanne said. "You two girls are my favorite brides. You get so excited, and I love how you do everything together."
Wow, this woman sees a lot of brides. I guess that's saying something.
So now, boxes holding 400 napkins are taking up space in the spare room in our apartment, sitting on top of all of the others things that all go toward this one day.
If you happen to get one with your sesame chicken appetizer, please remember this story, and keep your napkin clean.
