Keeping it together
"Summer's more fun when you're organized!"
That was the subject line of an e-mail that just found its way to my inbox from one of my favorite places on the planet, The Container Store. This store is nothing short of a serene retreat for me. In this place are organizers for everything in your entire life. Everything. Paper, CDs, necklaces, earrings and boxes of cereal. There is a box or a shelf or a doodad for anything. Your life in alphabetical
order. I never actually do much of said organizing, but just thinking about it makes me happier. I was so sad when The Container Store at The Promenade went away.
Which brings me to my point.
I'm beginning to get that feeling that there is 10,000 things to do. With the nuptuals just a month away, everything we have spent 12 months planning now has to be, like, confirmed or something.
Meaning: Vendors have to be called. Favors have to be put together. Gifts bought and wrapped. Out of town welcome bags bought, filled and assembled (and what the hell are they all about by the way?? More on that another time) .
We have to chase people who haven't bothered to RSVP because, well, don't we know they're attending? (no, we don't. And if you're reading this and thinking 'Is she talking about me?' The answer is YES and you get an empty plate.)
And in between, I am getting painted with makeup and squeezed into a dress in desperate need of some pillow-y boobie cups and a bustle. Oh, and I think I need some luggage too, unless I'm going to carry everything I need for Mexico in an Old Navy mesh bag I got for free with some coupon a few years ago.
I love to plan things. But this makes me long for my local Container Store to come back. I need to go there, stand in the middle of the store, and pretend my entire wedding fits inside one of their cool multi-level storage units.
Ah, serenity.
